Steven Meredith

CEO

Steven has significant banking, corporate treasury, operations, human resources and business development experience and possesses expertise in corporate governance, finance, risk management and succession planning. He has held a number of senior executive leadership roles in the UK and North America and is a qualified company Director.

Steven is actively involved in local church and is passionate about supporting the work of not-for-profit and missionary organisations. Working in the church and not-for-profit sector for the last 7 years, he is currently Chairman of The Leprosy Mission of Australia and serves on the board of The Global Disciple Network. His early work within the Prison system in Australia was serving with the Salvation Army in Pentridge Prison Melbourne.

Paul Hayes

Caring For Ex-Offenders Coordinator - Tasmania (North)

Recovery Course Coordinator - Tasmania

Paul Hayes worked within the NSW Corrections system in the 1980s and 1990s as a Probation and Parole Officer and as a psychologist, prior to moving to Tasmania in the mid 1990s. In Tasmania Paul worked as a psychologist in Disability Services in a Challenging Behaviours Unit and more recently managed a team of allied health professionals conducting holistic assessments with a view to identifying any barriers that might impact on obtaining and/or maintaining employment.

Paul commenced with the William Wilberforce Foundation in February 2019, operating from the Door of Hope Church in Launceston focusing on two key areas of the William Wilberforce Foundation's work in Tasmania:

  1. Coordination of a Recovery Course designed to assist people struggling with addictions. Paul provides training to enable facilitation of the Course; and
  2. Provision of training for Churches interested in becoming ones who would support and mentor ex-offenders, with the aim of building stronger community and reducing the recidivism rate.

John Nash

Caring For Ex-Offenders Coordinator - Tasmania (South)

John Nash has worked in the Community Corrections arena in Queensland and Northern New South Wales for many years with the "Second Chance Project" and the "Old Boys Gospel Band" bringing a message of hope & salvation to inmates in prisons in collaboration with Prison Fellowship, the Prison Chaplains & Correction Management.

John commenced with the William Wilberforce Foundation in February 2019, operating from the Christian Family Church Church in Hobart focusing on the Caring For Ex-Offenders program, training Churches to run the program and working with inmates from Risdon Prison Complex (RPC) interested in connecting to a Christian Church or Community Group. This is achieved through collaboration of other NFP organisations including Onesimus, Prison Fellowship and the RPC Chaplains.

Don Toews

Caring For Ex-Offenders Coordinator - NSW

Over 35 years IT project management, marketing and business development experience with multi-nationals in Australia, Canada and the USA. 

During the past 10 years my passion has to been in seeing lives transformed by working with the marginalised and disadvantaged in central Sydney and more recently in Wellington NSW. This includes facilitating The Recovery Course, helping those struggling with different types of addiction,  both in the community as well as in the Correction Centres, and Caring For Ex-Offenders by working together with Correction Centres and community-based organisations to reduce recidivism thru a more effective and collaborative approach in facilitating inmate transition from prison to community.
